    Treaty

    Treaty 10

Treaty 10 covers 220,000 square kilometers of northern Saskatchewan and Alberta. The lands are considered non-arable, so the government did not settle the land claim until the turn of the century. There were disputes of which treaty this land should be put under, and it was decided that the communities living in Treaty 10 land should not get the same payment as those of treaty 9 because the land was deemed to be of lesser value.
